What to do right after you finish 200 YTT.

How to I get started?

Starting teaching can be a catch-22. Yoga studios need you to have experience before they'll hire you, but you need to work somewhere to get experience. What is a new yoga teacher supposed to do?

Get Personal

Find a studio where you can begin to apprentice with the teacher or owner of the studio. If you are a diligent student, this will begin to happen naturally as you come to more and more classes. If you are this person, the teacher you want to learn from has already noticed you and probably won't be surprised if you want to learn more. Most teachers would love to share the information they have with you.

Take Classes

This may sound counterintuitive since the goal is to teach, but taking classes is the best thing you can do. Get to know other yoga teachers and observe their style of teaching. If everything clicks, they just might keep you in mind if they have an opening in the future. Stay top of mind by taking a class every now and then at studios you want to work at.

Take Private Clients

Private clients can be one of the best ways to get started as a new teacher because you can focus on one person at at time with more time and space to observe and learn from different bodies. Once you have done that for awhile,

Teach Public Classes

Teaching free classes can be a great way to meet new people. Try holding a community class or yoga in the park.
