Vitamin B3 | Niacin

Helps to release energy from food.

Please consult your doctor or nutritionist for specific medical advice.

Vitamin B3, also known as niacin is a water soluble molecule that helps to release energy from food. Both plants and animals manufacture niacin out of tryptophan, and can be consumed by eating whole grains, nutritional yeast, peanuts, fish, poultry, sunflower seeds, and almonds.

Niacin is one of the compounds in nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD), which is found in all living cells, helping to carry elections in chemical reactions in the body. Much of NAD is found in mitochondria.

Since niacin is water soluble, it can be lost when food is boiled. It can also degrade at high temperatures.
