Information

Goats are four-legged, horned animals that live in groups called tribes. They are herbivores, consuming only vegetation, mostly grass. Goats have rectangle-shaped pupils. They like to be elevated off the ground and will often stand on tree stumps. They are great climbers and can be seen climbing trees, hills, and other seemingly treacherous landscapes. Goats have been domesticated by humans for 10,000 years for meat and milk, and are one of the earliest animals domesticated.

Other than meat, the byproducts of goats are used for many purposes. Many goats are domesticated just for their milk. Cashmere is a fine fabric made from goat hair.

Goat meat has one of the lowest fat contents of any other land animal, even leaner than chicken.
