Where the eyes go, the attention follows.

Ashtanga ABCs Day 7 {Keep a Strong Drishti}

Challenge Pose: Utthita Trikonasana

In the Tristhana method, asana (postures), breath, and drishti (gazing point), come together to focus the mind and turn your yoga practice into a moving meditation.

Where the eyes go, the attention follows. Yoga captures the attention by asking us to look at a specific body part or in a certain direction in every asana. Rather than allowing our minds to wander aimlessly, focusing the mind allows us to increase the potency of our efforts.

Without looking at others (both literally and figuratively), this encourages us to become more keenly aware of our experience in the moment.

In Utthita Trikonasana, the drishti is toward the upward reaching hand.
