Relax Your Face

It sounds funny, but for some reason, relaxing your face and maybe even curling up the sides of your mouth into a smile actually makes the pose a little easier.



Ashtanga ABCs Day 21 {Relax Your Face}

Challenge Pose: Navasana



If you’ve never done Navasana Ashtanga style, you’re really in for a treat. I remember when I first learned this pose from one of the assistants at the shala. I finished the pose and started to jump back. She’s like no. Again. So I did it again. Phew! Now I was really ready to jump back! She’s like no. Again. She made me do this 5 times! I literally thought she was messing with me. But it turns out that’s just the sequence.


5 Navasana, 5 breaths each with a lift in between.


By the 5th Navasana I was looking like a constipated otter 🦦(as I still probably look when I’m not posing for photos). Cue my favorite line ever. “Relax your face.”


You’re not using your face muscles to do the pose so why frowning?
