Ray of light

Marichi was a sage and one of the rishis, for whom the Marichyasana, seated yoga binds and twists are named after. In Hindu tradition, Marichi was a son of Brahma, a creation of his mind, set up as one of the ten rulers of the people, called prajapatis. Marichi is the father of Kashyapa and the grandfather of the devas and the asuras.

In the Jain tradition, Marichi is reincarnated as Mahavira, one of the of Tirthankara, or saviors or supreme teachers in Jainism, come to teach the dharma to the world.
