Inversions require a great deal of core strength to stabilize the body and maintain a straight line. Try lowering the legs in headstand for a blast to the low belly and back.

Utplutih, or lotus with a lift, is the last posture in the Ashtanga yoga method and is incredibly strengthening for your core. Even if it seems impossible to lift your body on the first couple of tries, keep trying.  Soon, you'll lift up!
